We love a good community story! Nev Brown and Hywel Jones from our Asset and Compliance team were really pleased to hand over several walking frames and crutches to Tash Cantelo from Gwent Wide Integrated Community Equipment Service and Andrew Hart from Cefndy Medequip Equipment Service.
Nev and Hywel had noticed the discarded mobility items in some of our buildings.
Nev said, “We didn’t want them to end up in landfill, so we did some research to see if we could find an organisation that could put them to good use.
“This is when we discovered Cefndy Medequip, a company based in Newport that collects unneeded medical equipment. It recycles, repurposes and reissues mobility aids to bring them back into the community, not only saving them from landfill but also benefiting the NHS and patients who really need them.
“It was a pleasure to meet Tash Cantelo, who works for GWICES (Gwent Wide Integrated Community Equipment Service) and her colleague Andrew Hart from Medequip when they came to our HQ to collect the mobility aids.
“It’s great that we can give back to the community like this.”
Tash was kind enough to give us a short video message of thanks, which you can watch below.
Do you have any mobility aids you no longer need? Don’t put them in landfill – donate them to Cefndy Medequip!
