This June, we at Bron Afon are carrying out fire door checks in our low-rise blocks of flats.
This important safety measure is part of our continuous commitment to ensuring the safety of our residents. Our trained fire door inspectors will be visiting your homes to conduct these checks and ensure your fire doors are in the best working condition.
Fire doors are an integral part of fire safety protocol, serving to protect escape routes, slow the spread of a fire, and provide places of relative safety. They provide a critical separation between fire hazards and potential fuel sources, giving occupants valuable time to evacuate in the event of an emergency1.
Our team of inspectors will assess each fire door against a set of key standards including certification, gaps, seals, functionality, and hinge conditions1. The check will only take about 20 minutes and will focus only on the fire door, requiring no access to other areas of your home.
Our checks are part of a yearly programme required by law. We will inform you via letter or e-mail the month we intend to carry out checks in your block. We aim to visit between Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. If you are not at home during our visit, a calling card will be left to let you know when we’ll be back.
Remember, the goal of these checks is to ensure that our fire doors are working correctly. If any faults are found, they will be addressed promptly to ensure your safety. Our Compliance team member will carry a photo ID card and will be able to answer any questions you may have during the check.
For more information on fire door safety and maintenance, we encourage you to visit our self-help guides.
If you have any questions, please give us a call on 01633 620 111 and ask for our Compliance team, who will be happy to help you.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding during these checks.
Together, we can ensure the safety and wellbeing of our Bron Afon community.
