At Bron Afon, our mission is to create safe and strong communities where everyone has a home they’re proud of. A key part of this is delivering value for money (VfM) in everything we do. This means not just managing money wisely, but improving the services that matter most to our customers.
What Does Value for Money Mean to Us?
For us, value for money means offering high-quality services that are affordable for our customers. We want to keep rents and service charges reasonable, while continuing to invest in our homes and communities.
When we review our services, we always look for ways to save money and improve how we work. This can include making it easier for customers to get in touch with us, or finding better ways to manage our properties. We also work with local partners to support communities across Torfaen, using local services whenever possible.
How We Spend Every Pound
We know it’s important for our tenants to see how their money is spent. In the financial year 2023-2024, for every £1 we collected in rent, we were able to turn it into £1.17 thanks to extra funding and non-social housing income. Here’s how each pound was spent:
- 40p went towards regular maintenance to keep homes in good condition.
- 25p was invested in improving our existing homes.
- 15p was set aside to be reinvested in future projects.
- 13p covered service charges.
- 14p was spent on managing and running our housing services.
- The rest was spent on improvements and interest payments.
Listening to Our Customers
We’re committed to making sure our services meet the needs of our customers. That’s why we work closely with our “Check and Challenge” Group, made up of customers who help us identify areas for improvement. Their feedback ensures we’re delivering value for money while enhancing the experience for everyone.
A Focus on the Future
At Bron Afon, delivering value for money means more than just cutting costs. It’s about making sure that we continue to invest in the services, homes, and communities that matter most to our customers. With your help, we can keep building the safe, supportive communities we all want to see in Wales.
