Blenheim Road, Cwmbran
We have started to build to build four new homes on a piece of vacant, sloping grassland off Blenheim Road. There will also be some landscaping work done at the bottom of the slope to create a community meeting spot. The four homes will include three two bedroom houses and one three bedroom house. There will also be a new road for access and space for parking. Welsh Government have approved this scheme for grant too. A contractor has been identified and we are aiming to started in early 2017. We are working in partnership with the Aneurin Beavan University Health Board and Torfaen Council and using a grant from Aneurin Beavan University Health Board we are building 6 adapted bungalows for people with additional needs. Bron Afon will continue to manage the homes with support provided in partnership with the NHS. Work is well underway and we plan to be finished in summer 2017
We are working in partnership with a local developer, Bron Afon are transforming this vacant school into 39 high quality, affordable homes. This is our largest scheme to date and our first major grant funded scheme. Work has started on site clearance and construction of the first few houses. 11 of these properties will be sold through Torfaen’s low-cost home ownership scheme Help2Own. Completion is expected in early 2018.
This vacant piece of land in St Cadocs will be transformed with the addition of 6 high quality, affordable houses. The properties have been specially designed to compliment the listed farmhouse behind and to accommodate some green space for the community. We are currently identifying a contractor and securing grant funding, but hope to be on site in Spring 2017.
Market house on Market Street in Pontypool was built in 1730 and will be transformed into 6 new one-bed flats and a retail space. Work is being carried out with funding from Welsh Goverment and Torfaen Council as part of the Vibriant and Viable places scheme. A contractor has been appointed and work has started.
Henry Hughes House, Pontypool
In partnership with the council and the Welsh Government's Vibrant and Viable Places regeneration fund, we are about to start work on converting this building into nine one-bedroom flats and one two-bedroom flat.
This private, commercial site is being developed by Butler Wall Homes, a local, high quality developer. In line with their commitment to deliver affordable homes we are buying 6 properties from them – 4 to be rented by us at social rents and two to be rented at intermediate rents.
