West Mon pupils raised money for a homeless shelter

Gyspy and Traveller pupils from West Mon High School hand-crafted Christmas gifts and decorations to raise money for a homeless shelter. The group visited Bron Afon Community Housing’s office in Llantarnam and set up a stand.

Their donation will help pay for some Christmas meals and stockings for visitors to the shelter.

Gemma Webster, involvement officer with Bron Afon, said: “Their creative skills are fantastic. The holly wreaths were made on the morning of the sale and were really popular with visitors to our office. They also made gift cards and Christmas tree decorations. It’s lovely that people who are struggling at this time of year will benefit thanks to their efforts.”
