In some cases, a joint contract may break down and one contract holder may want to stay in the home as a sole contract holder. This may happen when a joint contract holder provides one months’ notice to quit the property or through a court order requesting a contract holder be removed.
How does
it work?
If a joint contract holder provides a notice to withdraw from contract form, this will end the contract for all joint contract holders. We will send all joint contract holders confirmation that we have received the notice to quit and let you know the end of the contract date. In the letter, we will ask the remaining contract holder to contact us within 14 days if they wish to be considered for a sole contract.
Your Community Housing Officer will complete an investigation and let you know if the sole contract has been granted or refused. If your application is successful you will attend a sign-up appointment and complete a new contract.
