We will be closed for Christmas from 12 noon on Tuesday, 24th December, and will re-open at 8 am on Thursday, 2nd January.

Tenants move into our new homes at Malthouse Close.

Moving into a new home means a fresh start for many people and for some like Shane Edwards in Cwmbran, it means so much more.  Shane, who had recently been living in temporary accommodation, got the keys to his home last week, one of 22 brand new Bron Afon homes at Malthouse Close.

In all, there are four one-bed flats, twelve two-bed houses, and six three-bed houses, which were built by Blaenavon-based, P & P Builders Limited.

Funding of £2.7m for the build came via Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant supported by Torfaen Council.

Shane said:

“It’s such a beautiful place, done to a high standard.  I can’t believe it. I can see my children and partner easily now and I couldn’t when I was living in temporary accommodation. Living here means everything to me.”

Kirsty West and Neil Jenkins are also looking forward to the future in their new home with their child.

Kirsty said:

“It’s brilliant. This is everything we want at the moment. It’s a good quality house with more room for us to grow our family in a lovely area that’s closer to work.”

For Melanie Nowalski-Fry, who has a disability, moving into a home with a wet room downstairs means she can live more independently.  She said:

“It’s amazing here.  It’s a whole new start for all of us. It’s given both my son and husband peace of mind.

“My son danced down the road with happiness when he saw our new home.  He’s already designing his bedroom!”

Alan Brunt, our chief executive, said:

“It’s fantastic to hear the great feedback tenants have given us about their new homes. We believe everyone should have a good quality home where they can feel secure and it’s good to hear we’re getting it right for our tenants. We want to build more homes that people can feel proud to live in and I think this development is a great example of that. We work closely with our partners to deliver these projects. I’d like to thank P&P Builders Limited for such a high-quality finish and Welsh Government and Torfaen council for funding the project.”
