Why is my maximum occupancy so high? I’ve had my home reclassified because a bedroom was too small.

To calculate the maximum occupancy, we have used the measurements available for the property archetype. This takes into consideration all rooms that can be used as sleeping accommodation, which includes the living room. Even if a box bedroom has been declassified, it is usually still suitable for a child under the age of 10. We use the measurements found here: housing act measurements alongside our records of the archetype to develop the maximum occupancy.

Some of the occupancy numbers will have an additional 0.5 added, this is meant to represent a child over the age of 1 but under the age of 10.
