Bron Afon is starting a 4 day week pilot.

Bron Afon will run a six-month pilot of working a 4-day week (4DW) starting on Monday 30 September.

We’re excited to be participating in the next national pilot and expect to learn a lot from the experience. The health and safety of our customers and colleagues is our absolute priority. We will not be closing our offices, compromising customer services or our high health and safety standards.  We are looking forward to sharing our learning with customers and stakeholders throughout and after the pilot

What is the 4 Day week campaign?

The 4DW is based on a principle of 100 – 80 – 100: delivering 100% of the work, in 80% of the time, for 100% of salary. The concept is gaining more support in the UK and the rest of the world, with more organisations and businesses taking part in the pilot.

Our aim is to maintain or improve our performance as an organisation and we will implement robust measures to monitor this throughout the pilot which will be our key focus for measuring success.

What does it mean for the way we work with you?

Our customers are, and always will be our top priority. You should not see any changes in the services we deliver during the pilot. We are not reducing the days or hours our services are available to customers each week. This means there will be no changes to the services we provide, and you will still be able to contact us in the usual ways from Monday to Friday from 8.00am – 5.00pm.

Our out of hours service will continue to be available to anyone who needs to report an emergency.

How will we know if our new way of working impacts our customers?

We will monitor and review our performance and progress throughout the pilot and be honest about our findings.

We have a monitoring framework in place to check our performance during the 4-day week pilot, so we can pick up on any potential issues early and manage them straight away.

What if we identify issues?

The monitoring framework we have in place will ensure that any potential challenges are identified early and dealt with. If, during the pilot, we decide that the 4-day week is not working, we will not continue it.

Our promise to you

We recognise this is a new approach and we are keen to share our learning and experiences with you throughout the pilot as we adapt to a new way of working.

Please be assured that we are still fully committed to delivering services to all our customers.  We see this as an opportunity for everyone at Bron Afon to improve our ways of working, by unleashing innovation, working smarter and improving our work-life balance.
