Universal Credit is here

If you receive any benefits from the government, most of them will eventually be combined to form one payment called Universal Credit.

There are some things we can help you with:

A helpful leaflet

We have produced this helpful leaflet to help you understand Universal Credit.

Ways to pay your your rent

Universal Credit will include an amount towards the cost of your rent.  If you receive Universal Credit, you will have to pay your rent yourself as it will no longer be paid on your behalf by the council.

There are lots of ways you can pay.  Find out how here.

Remember, your rent should be one of the first bills you pay, otherwise you could get into debt and be evicted.  If you are struggling or need our help and advice, get in touch with us as soon as possible.

My Account

If you haven’t done it already, why not set up My Account?

It’s free and easy to use and only takes two minutes to set up. You’ll be able to check your rent account balance at anytime of the day or night.

Click here to set up your account.  You’ll need your tenancy reference number, which you can find on your rent statement.

Verifying yourself online

To be entitled to Universal Credit, you have to prove who you are through the UK Government’s “Verify” process on line. You’ll need at least two forms of identity, such as a provisional or full UK driving licence, passport or debit cards.

To verify yourself, go to https://www.signin.service.gov.uk/start

If you haven’t got ID or need help with the process, get in touch with our Inclusion Team. You can email them at InclusionTeam@bronafon.org.uk
